The TC of the Neotropica Foundation is located at Agua Buena de Rincón, in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, which has been described by the National Geographic as "the most biologically intense place on earth". This is a privileged location: we are near the border of Corcovado National Park and Golfo Dulce, where dolphins and humpback whales come to breed, and inside the Osa Biological Corridor and near a Ramsar Site, the mangroves of the Sierpe River, a critical wetland ecosystem of exotic birds and endangered fauna.
The extensive housing complex, spread out over around 3 acres, is ideally set up for groups, with an extensive library, conference rooms, offices and even direct satellite Internet service. There is an open-air dining rancho with a volleyball court in front, and an open furnished ranchito with thatched palm roof. There is a Heliconia trail that winds through the secondary forest of the rest of the large property for self-guided hikes, and the property is only a short distance from a beautiful waterfall ensconced in primary rainforest. The two rooms in each building share a central screened and furnished living room, with space to relax and socialize.
We give participants a positive vision of sustainable development and conservation that integrates ecological, social and cultural factors pertinent to the Osa Peninsula and Costa Rica. You get to learn about the present environmental situation, and problems associated with the conservation of tropical ecosystems. All education is conducted among the beautiful natural surroundings of the complex, with many optional field trips to stimulating locales throughout the area.
